Who We Are

We are not affiliated with the IRS, any state Department of Revenue, or any government agency. For background on our team and credentials, visit our About page.
National Tax Tools is listed in the Library of Congress Research Guide for personal finance.
Content Creation Process
All content on National Tax Tools is written by Munib Ur Rehman. Content is researched using official IRS publications, Revenue Procedures, and state Department of Revenue websites as primary sources. Secondary sources including legal tax publications and professional tax organizations are used for supplemental context only.
No content is published without completing the following steps:
- Research and draft against current IRS guidance and publications
- Identify primary source citations for all tax rates, thresholds, and rules
- Tax professional review by Nausheen Shahid
- Final accuracy check against IRS.gov for current-year figures
- Assignment of publication date and scheduled review date
Review and Update Process
Tax law changes constantly. We review and update content on the following schedule:
- Annual review (January–February): All tax rate tables, brackets, standard deductions, and contribution limits are updated at the start of each filing season based on IRS annual guidance.
- Mid-year review: Content affected by mid-year IRS guidance, Revenue Procedures, or significant tax legislation is updated within 30 days of the relevant guidance publication.
- Ad-hoc corrections: Reader-reported corrections are reviewed within 5 business days. Verified corrections are implemented immediately and documented in the page's revision history.
Every calculator and guide displays a "Last Reviewed" date reflecting the most recent professional review. This date is updated even for minor corrections.
Citation Standards
National Tax Tools uses a strict citation hierarchy:
- Primary sources (required): IRS.gov, IRS Publications (e.g., Pub. 505, 334, 15), Revenue Procedures, state Department of Revenue official websites (.gov domains only)
- Secondary sources (supplemental): Tax Foundation, Tax Policy Center, American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), official congressional sources (Congress.gov, Joint Committee on Taxation)
- Never used: Wikipedia, general blogs, AI-generated content summaries, anonymous forums, or content without a verifiable original source
Every substantive tax claim (rate, threshold, deadline, formula) includes a link to the primary IRS or state source within the page or in the Sources section at the bottom of each page.
